Interview essays on writing workflows and storytelling
«Show Your Workflow» is a series of interview essays about writing and the writers’ workflows. I’ll interview exceptional writers whose essays I admire, asking them about their process, how they capture ideas, and how they take notes and write blog posts.
As a writer myself, I’ve been writing online since 2015, but much longer privately, and I’m curious how others have developed and perfected their workflow. Or how they work with the ups and downs of writing. My goal is to capture their workflow, their thinking, and how the storytelling part is formed in their head and through their tools.
Inspired by the How I Write podcasts and Typewriter Interviews, and Austin Kleon with his Typewriter interviews, I wanted to do a mix of both, showing how people write, but typed out and distilled through my lens.
The theme and name of the show is rooted in my various workflows I have, with multiple weird devices I have (Distraction-Free Typewriter, Hermes 2000 typewriter, multiple mechanical keyboards and mostly written with Obsidian and Neovim with the digital Zettelkasten. These conversations should be inspiring and interesting, spark the joy of writing, and potentially encourage you to start too.
