Today is my 40th birthday; happy birthday to me π. With every milestone birthday, it’s time to look back on the years before. In doing that, I’m thankful for where life took me and what I was able to experience.
In my 20s, I chose a path in computer science, not really knowing why or what I wanted to become. In my 30th, I was living abroad in Copenhagen, Denmark, in a different country, a different culture, learning a different language. Another ten years later, I’m back home in Switzerland, with a wife to spend my life with, a family with kids, and my own company, working as a writer, full-time. Life has truly been a blessing to me.
I’ve come a long way. Looking back, I can see two major life phases and a shift in focus: the first on myself, optimizing, learning, trying out new things. The second, and upcoming chapter, is fully dedicated to family and making them a success, trying my best to provide for them while still growing, learning every day. Life hasn’t always been easy, nor should it, I believe. There were hard times, and there still are. But zooming out of my life’s journey, I’ve enjoyed the ride so far.
Thank you to my wife, my family, you who read this, and everyone who supported me along this way. To the next ten years ahead.
With love, Simon
