Connecting The Dots
Connecting the dots is what you can only do backward or in hindsight. It’s what you do when you learn: you start with a blur, and after a while, the dots connect.
It’s also what I do with this Second Brain and how I note down in a connected way, even sharing it as a graph online, so it’s easier for you to consume as well, or see interesting backlinks or connected terms you know and therefore learn faster, more connected.
This is how our brain works.
# Steve Jobs and David Perell
Steve Jobs said that a while ago at his commencement speech:
You can’t connect the dots looking forward; you can only connect them looking backward. So, you have to trust that the dots will somehow connect in your future.

David Perell said it well, too:
Read to collect the dots, write to connect them
David Perell on LinkedIn: Read to collect the dots, write to connect them
# Future Path
Related is this Tim Urban illustration. To me it’s like Pathless Path, and being open to what comes:

Again, you can’t foresee the path ahead of time.
