Vanity Metric

Social Media is just a vanity metric.

Posted on Bsky: Followers and likes are just vanity numbers. Having a purpose and clearly defined principles is all that counts. Great read, could be my words.

My Principles:

1. Family freedom
2. Learn something every day
3. Nourish close relationships
4. Stay healthy
5. Be open for new things
6. Minimalistic

I checked another creator’s stats. 50,000 subscribers.
I had 47.
I closed my laptop and went for a walk.
On the bridge, I passed a street musician. Maybe five people watching. He played like it was a sold-out stadium.
I went home and wrote a post for my 47.
Someone replied: “I’ve been following you since the beginning. Don’t stop.”

So true. Followers is just a vanity metric. True, honest connections matter most.

Followers are vanity metrics. It needs a lot of serendipity, that sometimes you get a big hit. But the fast they come, so fast they are gone. consistency and passion matters for you to run long term.

As Bill Gates says:

Most people overestimate what they can do in one year and underestimate what they can do in ten years.
