Compound: Everything Does
Compounding is something so substantial. You can do it with notes (Compounding Note-Taking), money, and in life (Principles). It is slow, but it’s the right way to grow.
Quote by Albert Einstein
Compound interest is the eighth wonder of the world. He who understands it, earns it … he who doesn’t … pays it. Link

Don’t feed the algorithms. Quality beats quantity. Just keep going; over time, it. Be authentic; be you. If it won’t work out, at least you had fun and learnt something. Me on selling yourself.
# Fame Comes from Consistency
Rory Sutherland on consistency says:
Having a brand is playing the mode of capitalizing on easy mode. Brand building is like a Pension. It’s a compounding effect. What most people miss about marketing, YT.
More so, Success I’d call a life worth overnight fame. Because people see it as overnight success, but forget that you work all your life on it. It’s the compounding effect at its peak.
# Everywhere You Go
A couple of reviews there, a couple of images here, and all of a sudden you have reached 1 million views. Helping 100 of tousends of people, hopefully.
This is Google Maps:

This is also why I do it for so long already, my motivation. Not for the views. Sure its fun to see it going up, and google reminds me to keep going, but it’s because I like to help people. Same as I appreciate another review that helps me.
# Negative Emotions Compound Too
Unfortunately, negative compounding also works, such as negative emotions.
This thought came up with my wife on 2024-01-30: Not only can the above positive things compound, but also negative emotions. e.g., not talking about what you feel or something big in your life, like a crisis, but you avoid it. The consequences of not talking about it might be minor, but they compound over time. It could be as bad as you get a Manie. The longer, the worse.
# The Web Does Too
Same with working on my domain with all My Subdomains (Website).
I’ve built a business around the compounding effect. It’s fascinating to me to this day how it works, slowly, but surely. Knwowledge sure compounds over time:

This subdomain’s ecosystem reflects my passion for learning and creating. It may seem like a lot, but it’s consistent, incremental work.—Everything is hosted on my simple hosting server from 20 years back, either through my website (GoHugo), Book (mdBook), Second Brain (Quartz), or Newsletter (Listmonk).
I consider myself a slow writer and thinker. I’ve learned that knowledge compounds over time. That’s why I encourage everyone to invest in their own domain. Even if you’re not ready to create a website, pointing your Substack or WordPress to it allows you to start building up.
Start small. The compounding effect of consistent effort shouldn’t be underestimated and is super powerful. How do you organize your ideas, notes, and knowledge? What methods have worked best for you?
# Go Viral, Optimized for the Algorithm
To me, optimizing for the algorithm is not satisfying and won’t let you keep going long enough. The slow but sure growth of sharing a little every day, compounding, is what interests me much more. I believe followers are just a Vanity Metric. And not only do I think this see the Death of the Follower.
But at the same time, what helped me navigate “posting for the algorithm vs. sharing anything at all” was Austin Kleon ’s books on “Show your Work (Steal like an artist Trilogy (Austin Kleon)”.
Instead of pleasing the algorithm with spicy hot takes, etc., I see it as “Show your work”. Framed in that way, I think it might be much interesting to many readers (maybe not to the algorithm, but who cares if that platform might be gone in 2-3 years?). Vanity Metric
# Short vs. long Form
A constant debate is between Short vs Long-Form Content. For me, I’d rather miss out and enjoy my long form.
It’s all about your goal, too. Is your goal to just chase a Vanity Metric, or do you want to get a connection or Trust from people, potentially read more after you wrote a moving part?
To me, slowly compounding a couple of subscribers every day is worth more than a quick TikTok viral hit. Slow Living.
