Rich Text

Last updated Feb 9, 2024

The Rich Text Format is a proprietary document file format with published specifications developed by Microsoft Corporation from 1987 until 2008 for cross-platform document interchange with Microsoft products.

It’s used in many WYSIWYG Editors such as Google Docs, Webflow and others. It has many good features such as being easy to use, but the bad feature is that the formatting is not stored within the text such as in Markdown. See more differences in Markdown vs Rich Text.
