What I have learned Abroad

Last updated by Simon Späti

Maybe you’re thinking of starting 1-2 years abroad or traveling the world as well. Therefore, I want to share what I learned from my recent experience.

Thinking outside the box, I discovered the power of books, especially audiobooks, and the importance of work-life balance (specific for Danes or Nordic countries).

Perhaps most important is getting to know so many different cultures and realizing that we are all the same, just with different backgrounds.

Meeting people from, and all over the world.

Value the time, and spend it right, you can’t buy it back!

Live like a Stoic. If you don’t know where to begin, start with The Daily Stoic (366 Meditations) - Ryan Holidays.

You don’t have to travel all the time. It’s okay to have a base somewhere in the world, where you can enjoy old friends, family, and loved ones and prepare for the next trip.

Last but not least, be happy, with a smile.

# Experiment with moving abroad

Matt D’Avella shares on Why I left America for good what he learned from moving from the US to Australia and living abroad with his family. As they were a couple with two different cultures far away (Australia and US), I can relate to everything he says. It’s hard and rewarding at the same time.
