Newsletters vs. Blogs: And Why I Still Blog
What I don’t like about a real newsletter is that you almost need to announce the new issue the day before so people can subscribe; otherwise, they miss the email.
In a blog, you can focus more on the writing, and you just publish. And Google and RSS make sure people read it. But on the other hand, in a newsletter, the already subscribed people get it for sure, so there’s no Death of the Follower happening as you’d share in the social or even on Google Search as they show up AI summaries before your blog post.
Just a thought that came up today while seeing a newsletter announcement (Substack note) with no value other than, tomorrow is a new send out, which, to be honest, I also sometimes do, but I really don’t like. I’d rather just share the link. That’s maybe Why I Still Blog, and I use my second brain for notes.
